The ActiveECG hardware has features that make it exceptional as a portable cardiac monitor. The unit is designed for quick access and quick assessment. There are no buttons, switches, or controls - everything is controlled from the Palm OS handheld. The enclosure itself is designed to hold the ECG leadwires in a compact, easy-to-use configuration, ensuring quick and reliable access. Diagram

An integrated cover surrounds the raceway holding in the leadwire snap connectors. Two replaceable covers are included with ActiveECG - "Active yellow" and dark gray.

A spring-loaded clip on the back of the ActiveECG hardware is designed to quickly attach to a patient's clothing or bedside and will act as a strain relief for the cables attached to their chest. Its design allows single-handed use.

ActiveECG has cardiac monitoring features rarely seen on such a small device. These include QRS (heart beat) detection, pacemaker detection, leads-off sensing, active noise suppression and extensive self-testing.

ActiveECG uses a single CR123A Lithium photographic battery available in most drug stores, hardware stores, grocery stores, or on the internet. Battery power is used sparingly. You can expect over six months of heavy use from a single battery (and even longer with normal use). A low battery warning is displayed on the Palm handheld when two weeks or less of battery capacity, under heavy use, remains.
